Kelly Steward is a Midwestern American singer, songwriter and recording artist hailing from Rockford, Illinois. Her haunting indie-flavored neo-traditional country meditations are a favorite in this area of the country: a grass-roots musical movement from the state that brought you Wilco. After a few storied years in Los Angeles where she worked with such artists as The Wallflowers, Kelly headed back to the midwest to record her EP “Long Long Road” with producer and fellow musician Miles Nielsen. After traveling and playing with Nielsen’s band for two years, Kelly began branching out with her own shows and eventually forming her own band The Restless Kind with guitarist: Greg Whitson, bassist: Scott Ford and drummer: Tony Berkman and recently adding Kristina Priceman on fiddle. All musicians hailing from Rockford, IL., a heavily musical town that brought you the likes of Cheap Trick.
In the vein of singer/songwriters such as Emmylou Harris, Shelby Lynne and Tift Merritt, Kelly Steward is a mainstay and an artist worth not only listening to, but talking about. Just as her recordings do, her live performance stands on it’s own and 2015 is filling up with dates all across the midwest from Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana, down south to Kentucky and Tennessee and a West Coast tour in the works for this coming year.
Lincoln Don't Lie
Lincoln Don’t Lie reminds you of everything that is great about country music. Fronted by the vocal talents of lead singer Tarah Leigh Tesmer, the band celebrates country music as well as popular alternative and indie hits. Based out of the suburbs of Chicago, the five-piece performs today’s top 40 modern country music and adds their own unique spin to countrify the rest.
The name Lincoln Don’t Lie highlights the band’s origin in Illinois, its pride in the history of the Midwest, and the group's overall welcoming demeanor. Like Abe, the band is honest in its focus and uses this to deliver engaging performances that stay sharp and genuine to country music.
Formed in February 2012, Lincoln Don't Lie joins the talents of Matt Bielawa (vocals, guitar), Eric Dobson (drums, vocals), Chris Walke (lead guitar, pedal/lap steel), and Jeff Thompson (bass, vocals). Together, these musicians provide a foundation for Tarah to work her magic and provide audiences with more than just a cover song but an interpretation and performance like no other.
For years, Kevin Presbrey toured the country as the frontman of Painkiller Hotel, a modern rock group inspired by guitar-fueled bands like Pearl Jam and Live.
Now, he’s dialing back the clock with his solo debut, an Americana album that takes its cues from Jim Croce’s folk music, the Eagles’ country-tinged rock and Fleetwood Mac’s 1970s pop.
